Linger

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
 Jeremiah 29:11

The Bible tells us to "be on guard" or "contend" for the faith. It also warns us how crafty the adversary of our soul can be. His tricks are schemes are not obvious because they are intended to get permission to craft our culture. One of the wiles that the devil has used is to convince us that we just don't have time. Hurry to this and rush to that. When we are "here" our mind is already occupied with what is up next.
Yet, relationships aren't built online but in person. Swiping right might be an onramp to a relationship but it's established by time in each other's presence. Now, I'm not a goon to believe that you have to live your life in a fantasy romantic bubble. That's not it. It's about being invested for the good and the bad times. It's a commitment or covenant to not just exist but to let love grow deep roots. You begin to invest in them and not just live for yourself.
Our relationship with God is not something we can do when it is convenient. Think of what He is offering us. His living Word has the ability to change us by simply opening it up and letting it read us and change us. We have His promised presence that is ever present with us. We have the price that has been purchased to redeem us - the sacrifice of Jesus (God's own Son). We even have been positioned in resurrection victory.
Yet, what does God require? Simple...one thing. He wants us to seek Him. It's not hide and seek. It's just a posture of the heart. It's a decision to chase and a life style pursuit of God. Paul seems to capture this intensely in Philippians 3.

"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Paul was one of the greatest evangelists of the gospel. His desire to plant churches and see others changed by the gospel was second to none. Yet, his commitment to knowing Christ burned like an inferno inside of him.  It was the one thing that drove His passion for the lost. In order to lay down his life He had to know the heart of God. Likewise, we will see more enter the mission and mandate of the great commission when we spend time with Him.

Make room for Him. Make time for nothing else than to get away with God. It could be your Bible and it could be learning to linger by simply listening to Him. Cultivating a lifestyle of recognizing Him will lead to a fruitful ministry.
